Siberian cats renowned as Russian forest cats belong to the cold region of Siberia, Taiga. Due to Siberia’s wintry habitat, its thick furry coat is water repellent. Siberian cats have a strong stocky bodies as they possess roots in cold habitats. They are loving and tremendously affectionate cats, they are gentle with their humans including children as well. Just like other cats, they are immensely attached to their humans, when they come home they get ready to welcome them. These cats communicate in their way, they gently express themselves through soft purrs. Siberians get along with other animals smoothly, they are easygoing and calm cats. Siberian cats experience adulthood slowly, they take up to five years to mature; meaning they are still kitties till five.

Siberian Cat’s History

The Siberian cat’s presence was first reported 1000 years ago, Even though they existed for a long, they have been unnoticed until now they are the most lovable pets for their funny and playful nature. Moreover, Siberian forest cats were initially narrated in a book named ‘our cats and all about Us by Harrison Wier in 1871. However, Siberian cats were officially acknowledged in the 1980s and publicly made their appearance through the Kotofei Cat Club in St. Petersburg in 1987. Besides, the United States catch the first sight of the Siberians in the 1990s at the end of the cold war; when exportation began and they finally made their way to the US.

Siberian Cat’s Temperament

Siberian cats are playful and energetic fur babies. Their perky nature captivates them to explore around. Due to their forest origin, they love adventures and are pretty good at hunting rodents. Moreover, Siberians are intuitive, they will immediately recognize if their humans are having a bad day. Despite having young spirits, these cats love to cuddle with their humans. Siberians don’t hesitate to show affection, they love to be loved and choose to be near their parents.

Siberian Cat’s Grooming

Siberian cats are exceptionally beautiful, their charming looks please everyone. These cats have long lustrous fluffy hair, thanks to their greasy locks; it is not prone to tangle or mat. Even though they have a dense fur coat, it is easy to manage. Their grooming requires weekly brushing to avoid matt and keep their fur healthy and bouncy.

The average life expectancy of Siberians is 11 to 15 years

Siberians are big size cats, their size ranges are medium to large. it takes them five years to full-grown cats. Male cats are 15 to 20 pounds, apparently female cats are 10 to 15 pounds.

Siberian Cats Are Hypoallergenic?

Siberian cats have a very low tendency to cause allergic reactions, People with cat allergies confirmed that Siberians, have no or minimum, chance to cause reactions. The good thing about allergies is that they only shed twice per year. However, shedding is noticeable in spring and parts of summer sometimes.

Siberian Colors

Siberians are available in all types of color combinations, their patterns are appealing and catchy. Colors include; white, black, blue, orange, and gray.
