Goldens are Scottish-born; previously they were appointed as hunting dogs because of their retrieval instincts. but, now they are well-known, loyal companions. Goldens are exceptionally calm and composed dogs; they don’t aim to fight. Hence, goldens are mellow, and you can trust them with your children.

History

The origin of Goldens can be traced back to Scotland, initially propagated by Scottish hunters. Their prime purpose was to fetch game birds from distant places either on land or water. Moreover, Developing the Golden retriever was unusual, it all started with the Scottish Lord Tweedmouth, fond of sports and hunting. he began producing a breed of Golden retrievers as gun dogs. He crossed-breed yellow wavy-coated retriever to Tweed water spaniel. However, pieces of evidence reveal, that Tweedmouth wanted to breed a smart golden retriever. Besides, he wanted him to be loyal and gentle as well. Goldens were officially brought to North America and entitled as loyal companions. furthermore, American Kennel Club formally acknowledge Goldens in 1925.

Care and Grooming

Goldens are the epitome of beauty. And to maintain its grandeur; it needs special care. Having long lustrous fur is not easy, hence Goldens need to have daily brushing, and, of course, taking bath once a month is necessary. What is more surprising is that; their medium-long fur coat is water repellent. if you’re thinking that’s all, reconsider it because Goldens shed a lot. You can surely expect to see a lot of hair in your house. Speaking of grooming, your Golden needs nail trimming once or twice a month to prevent them from breaking and causing any infection. Another thing Golden owners be mindful of is that; Goldens need to have their teeth brushed, a few times a month. Their oral hygiene is as important as personal care. Due to their droopy ear, they might catch an ear infection, so be careful of that.

Exercise

Golden retrievers are lively-spirited dogs. Therefore, they need regular exercise and fun games. Since Goldens are extremely playful creatures, they love to roam around in large places. It would be great for them to have access to big yards. Also, taking them out for daily walks is significant for mental peace as well. Goldens get along with other pets easily; their gentle nature makes them super adorable. Though they are very active, they don’t want to indulge in any fights. Golden retrievers are fond of carrying things in their mouth, they love stuffing balls in their mouths until they are full.

Training

Goldens don’t want to be left alone. They want to be included in all adventures with their humans. Goldens are more suited to family dogs as compared to guard dogs. Since they are much friendly; they can befriend any intruder entering the house. Moreover, Socializing is very important to dogs and goldens have acquired it innately. Though Goldens have calm and serene nature, their big size can knock down little kids whenever they get excited. This act might frighten them, but once they learn to play with kids; they are a suitable match for children.
